Project Challenge:
The homeowner wanted to improve the main entrance to the residence. The challenge was to design a stair case that would compliment the surrounding architecture and at the same time accommodate the root system of the 78 foot tall redwood tree.
Solution:
By excavating with the touch of an archeologist, we located critical roots and placed concrete piers between these roots. These piers support the staircase and upper landing, which are a colored concrete with an antique finish.
